We have found that unit studies work really well when trying to accomodate homeschooling several kids. My preschooler enjoys participating in the unit studies for the 2nd grader. I just adjust the lessons to be appropriate for his age. He usually just colors in the graphs.

The dustpan and the sandbox
Who would have thought that the dustpan and the sandbox could provide an hour of entertainment for a preschooler? He really did have a great time though.
The printing power went much better today. Thankfully. Of course, she refused to work on the math so that means an additional lesson for tomorrow.
Oh, the
life of a homeschooler.

Well, I thought today was going to start great! However, the kids had other plans.
Oldest DD started the Printing Power cursive handwriting program and got frustrated after 10 minutes. She just always wants to do everything now, and has no patience for taking her time and learning things in sequence. I think we will give it another go tomorrow but may wind up waiting a month and then trying again.
DS decided to throw a huge tantrum. Don't know what exactly his problem is these days. We have noticed that he has grown about an inch in the last week so maybe it is just a growth spurt we are dealing with.
The baby has been picking the Cheerios up off the floor and eating them. Guess I better sweep.
I added my blog to the
Blogwise Directory. Let's see if we can get this puppy indexed soon.

Tomorrow we start the printing power series for learning cursive handwriting. I think my daughter will really like this. At least I hope so. I am also waiting for my unit studies to arrive that I ordered from Teacher Created Materials. We will be starting the DVDs soon too.
We will be using some of the
School Express worksheets as well.

This week we are going to take a break and do unit studies. I think the change of pace will do us some good. I like the
idea of change. It keeps the kids eager to learn. Sometimes it is a struggle to get them to do any work at all. Yep, I think this week will be the best time for a change.

To rent DVDs online seems like a great idea. With my visual learners this is especially helpful. I have not found the cost to be too much either.

We have been homeschooling for 4 years now. I have found that when the kids start to get bored with the usual routines, a change of pace can help jump start learning again. Sometimes we do school out in the backyard. I will set up a reading "tent" for them.
I really enjoy the unit studies. We have learned about birds the last unit study.
